About the Talk

A chain of fatal accidents have happened in the recent months in many local construction sites, big or small. Some of them are of similar if not exactly the same nature and apparent causes. This series of fatal accidents have caught the attention and grave concern of all stake holders in the industry including the government, trade unions and safety related organisations.

In the last couple of decades, the numerous large scale infrastructure projects have accumulated considerable wealth in construction safety. Under the prevalent control and supervisory regime, constructions sites are subject to countless and relentless inspections, surprised and otherwise, and audits.

Why couldnt fatal accident rate drop or even be curbed? Could the lack of working experience of the dead be the sole and cursing evil? Are the construction companies or some parties not doing enough?

In this Talk, Rheo is going to view the picture of construction safety from a wider and systemic angle and look deeper from the perspective of a safety practitioner to see what has gone wrong in the safety industry to have so many tragic accidents?
